League Activities Suspended

Little League International sent out a notice today advising all leagues worldwide to suspend all league activities until April 6th.  After receiving this notification, we immediately sought guidance from our local District 24 Administrator, Little League Western Region and other local authorities.  All of the authorities we reached out to agreed that we should be compelled to comply with Little League's guidance.

The OCLL Board of Directors met this evening and voted to adopt the guidance as stated by Little League International. According to the information available and the directives from those authorities, we did not see a reasonable basis to dispute this suspension of activities.

Effective immediately, all OCLL activities are suspended until April 6th.  This includes ALL games, practices, events and meetings.  Due to this, we have also cancelled our planned OCLL Cares program for providing Easter baskets to under-served youth.  We will be planning a different giveback campaign once we resume our season.

Although we are saddened to have to suspend league activities when our season just started ramping up, we understand that it is of the utmost importance across the world to make every reasonable effort to stem the spread of the coronavirus.  Although this suspension seems severe, it is appropriate to support the health goals connected to it.  We have been very fortunate to have very few cases of this virus in our area thus far and actions like these that reduce larger gatherings may help keep it that way.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will share any updates as available.  If the situation changes and Little League alters this date we will immediately inform you of any changes.

At this time, we do not have details on how this suspension will impact our season schedules, nor has Little League informed us of potential changes to the All Star tournament schedules.  We should have additional details as we get closer to the date we can resume activities.  We will provide revised schedules prior to the resumption of activities.

For additional information, the full notice sent to us by Little League International is below.  They also have a dedicated page for on-going updates regarding this situation:  littleleague.org/coronavirus.

Stay well! We will look forward to the time we will be able to get our players back on the field!
